Lade’s music is rooted in real life and imagined in color. A 23 year old singer, songwriter, and creative architect, she moves effortlessly between dreamy R&B, Afro-fusion, pop, and trap-influenced sounds — blending strong vocals, sharp writing, and world-building storytelling into every track.
Born in Abeokuta, Nigeria, and raised in Toronto’s Rexdale community, a working-class, tightly knit area known for its challenges and its resilience, Lade’s earliest memories were shaped by the steady determination of her family to build a better future. Her father, after completing a master’s degree at the University of Michigan, brought his young family to Canada, where they worked tirelessly to build a stable foundation. Music was present from the beginning: at just four years old in daycare, Lade memorized Rihanna’s "Take a Bow" by ear before she could even read, performing it for a room full of teachers who urged her parents to nurture her gift.
Her musical development was serious from the start. Enrolled in the Ontario Conservatory of Music by age 12, Lade trained in classical music theory and vocal control, consistently placing first in regional competitions. She spent her teenage years balancing music, school, and sports — before eventually putting formal training aside to experience life fully as a student. Yet music remained, quietly shaping her.
At the University of Ottawa, Lade pursued a Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in Management at the Telfer School of Management. While studying full-time, she also founded the BIPOC Business Society to advocate for diversity in business leadership, and gained internship experience at the Ottawa Board of Trade, building early experience in strategic leadership, organizational development and community building.
It was during the summer before her final year of university that Lade stumbled into George of On3Peat’s studio, leading to an impromptu recording session where she wrote and recorded her first song, "Reckless." The experience reignited her creative focus, and just a few months later, she was accepted into her first songwriting camp — the Creative Space Songwriting Camp in New York.
Balancing her final year of university, full-time work, and traveling for songwriting camps in New York, Miami, and Toronto, Lade honed her craft in real time. She learned to navigate the industry while managing leadership responsibilities, coursework, and personal growth — skills that sharpened her vision as an artist and entrepreneur. Working under the mentorship of the late J-Hatch and guided by producers like Fuse (VP of 808 Mafia), she found her voice in rooms full of working creatives. Many of the producers Lade collaborates with today come from that first camp — a testament to her loyalty and trust in her creative circle.
Lade’s music reflects a full spectrum of influence. Toronto’s trap and hip-hop roots — from Drake and Nav to Houdini and Tory Lanez — blend into her love for global R&B and pop icons like Jhene Aiko, Aaliyah, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, and Cassie. Her Nigerian heritage remains deeply embedded, carried forward through the sounds of Wizkid, Davido, P-Square, Styl-Plus, Tiwa Savage, and 2Baba, which filled her childhood home.
Her sound is textured: clean melodies, emotional storytelling, and understated yet powerful delivery. She approaches music like architecture — hearing every instrument, every harmony, every mood before it’s even recorded.
Lade has already completed her first two EPs, with two more projects on the way before her debut album. Her growing body of work introduces listeners to the Dream House — a multi-dimensional world with emotional rooms: Auburn, Red Eye, Sunshine, and Sniper — each representing love, ambition, survival, and rebirth.
As her career rises, Lade remains rooted in the values that shaped her — family, resilience, discipline, and vision. A return to Nigeria is a personal goal for the near future, with plans to immerse herself fully and create a true homecoming album — a full-circle celebration of the culture that raised her spirit across continents.
With her balance of creativity, intelligence, and emotional precision, Lade isn’t just stepping into the spotlight. She’s building a legacy — one song, one story, one dream at a time.
